AUGUST 2007

 Hello everyone,

It has been great to have so many new faces at the classes lately.  I am hearing from people from the community events calendars in The Current and The Express-News, as well as from my articles in Whole Health magazine.  Also, several of you have referred friends, family and clients to the classes – thanks!

Did you know that one of the Top 10 Farmer’s Markets in America is held Saturdays in Austin?   The market is held on Hwy. 290 near Westgate.  It is called Sunset Valley Farmer’s Market and you can see directions and hours at their website at www.sunsetvalleyfarmersmarket.org.   It is an excellent market – you will not be disappointed if you go.  Take several coolers because you will definitely find things you have never seen before or have been looking for.   I personally go up 281N to 290W, as I enjoy the drive more than taking I-35.

I am very excited about 4 new brain formulas we are now carrying from Dr. Eric Braverman in New York.  I highly recommend his wonderful book “The Edge Effect”.  It is the best explanation I have ever seen of the 4 main neurotransmitters of the brain (Dopamine, Gaba, Serotonin and Acetyl Choline) and the four extraordinary ways they govern our aging, memory, moods, sleep, hormones, weight and much much more.  The book is easy to read and understand.

Dr. Braverman has created four brain supplements to complement the four brain areas.  They are simple, powerful formulas, designed to wake that brain (and memory) up, and keep it calm and happy too!  I am very pleased to be carrying them.  I would love the chance to test any of you on these four products.  If you wish, make a 15 minute appointment and we’ll test these four and see if there is a match for you.

A product we have been carrying for a while that I really like is an organic coconut oil from Wilderness Family Naturals.  It is very light and a bit sweet in taste and is outstanding for cooking.  Most healthy cold-pressed oils (including olive oil) really don’t like to be heated, but coconut oil does.  As you would imagine, all coconut oil is not alike, and this is the best one I have found.

By the way, coconut oil is well-researched for its health benefits, especially for supporting sluggish thyroid function, weight loss, and Candida management.  Try it out, and enjoy it with poultry and seafood.  Or, use it to sauté vegetables.  Delicious!

SUPPORT FOR MOLD ALLERGIES

We are all suffering from high levels of mold this year, whether you realize it or not.

Molds make us tired, grumpy and unable to think!  We get depressed and apathetic too.  Here are the remedies and suggestions I have for dealing with this problem.

First, keep your doors and windows closed and run your air conditioner enough to keep the humidity under 60% in your house.  (Measure humidity with an inexpensive hydrometer/thermometer from your hardware store.)  This discourages the outdoor molds from taking hold inside your home.  As always, run your car’s A/C system on “Recirculate” to reduce the amount of outside air you breathe.

Secondly, take our homeopathic Mold C drops.  Do not take SW Mold Mix at this time – it is for the molds we usually get in a hot, dry summer.

Thirdly, I find these particular molds give me very red, puffy and burning eyes.  I get good results with our Similisan Eye Drops.  There are 2 kinds – one for dry, red eyes, and one for burning watery eyes.  Whole Foods and SunHarvest carry these also.  And since these drops are homeopathic, they will not cause problems as commercial eye drops can.

Finally, I take the bioflavonoid Quercitin with some Vitamin C throughout the day.  Quercitin is highly effective for allergies and can help with the sneezing and fatigue from molds (and cedar allergy as well).  We carry these, as do all health food stores.

TWO GREAT CLASSES COMING UP

Hoorah!  It’s time to teach the Basics of Muscle-Response Testing in San Antonio!  This class is so much fun, and gives you immediate tools to use every day, and for the rest of your life.  And yes, you can learn to do basic muscle-testing in one short class.

There are over 100 different schools and styles of muscle-testing, and it takes a long time to learn any of these languages in depth.  BUT, you can learn the basics of testing very easily.  I will be showing you some easy techniques on Saturday August 18th from 10 to 3 at the Microtel Inn and Suites at 281North and Brookhollow Rd.  The class is just $50.

On September 8th and 9th I will again be co-hosting a weekend of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) with therapist Jayne Morgan-Kidd.  This was a very successful class in May, so we are repeating it.  If you took it before and wish to take it again, you may do so for half-price.  Six CEU’s are given for this class, so it is great for therapists to take too.  Give them one of our fliers or direct them to my website for information.

I use EFT daily on myself for a huge variety of physical and mental stressors.  I cannot tell you what a difference it makes for me to have such an easy tool at my fingertips.  Please look at my website at www.dietandhealthcenter.info for more info on EFT, and a link to Jayne’s website.  You can register online or call the office.  The cost is $125 for Saturday 10 to 5 and Sunday 10 to 3.
